After a brilliant first half of the season in which he hit 20 HR, Joc Pederson (OF, LA) has fallen on hard times in July. Pederson has nearly twice as many strikeouts (28) as hits (15) through 85 AB this month. Poor contact has been an issue for Pederson throughout his rookie campaign, but he's been able to get on base regularly with a 17% bb% through the first half—it's collapsed down to 4% in July. Manager Don Mattingly is being patient with the youngster as he's still receiving regular playing time, though Mattingly has admitted that the strikeouts are happening more frequently than he'd like. Should Pederson's inability to get on base continue, he may see some added time on the bench as LA starts their stretch...
