PT TOMORROW: NL East—Will Zimmerman see playing time at 1B?

Washington Nationals

We mentioned last month that Washington planned to get Ryan Zimmerman (3B, WAS) some work at first base during spring training and discussed the idea of a platoon with Adam LaRoche (1B, WAS) at some point. With Zimmerman dealing with yet another shoulder issue—this time it’s inflammation—the time for that change could be now.

As we said then, LaRoche hit just .198/.254/.313 with 3 HR and 0.24 Eye in 142 PA vs. LHP a year ago, so it would make sense to sit him at least occasionally against left-handers regardless of Zimmerman’s situation. But now that may be come to be quicker than expected. In that scenario, Anthony Rendon (2B/3B, WAS) would play third base and Danny Espinosa (2B/SS, WAS) would play second base....

Almost!
