PT TOMORROW: NL East—Robles gets another shot

Washington Nationals

Seems there’s at least one more chapter in the Victor Robles (OF, WAS)-in-Washington story. Despite his poor showing in 2021 that eventually led to a Triple-A exile in September, the 24-year-old is back roaming center field and batting ninth as Nationals camp closes out. By all indications, he’ll be in Thursday’s starting lineup at home against the Mets.

The hoped-for spring training rejuvenation has been anything but: Through Monday, he’s logged two singles in 18 AB with three strikeouts, two walks and no stolen bases. One has to figure that if this level of production continues, the team could move on from him at some point in 2022 as well, either through another demotion to the minors or just a seat on the bench....

Almost!
