PT TOMORROW: NL East—New role for Camargo

Atlanta Braves

Johan Camargo (3B/SS, ATL), who was labeled as a future utilityman as he worked his way through the minor leagues, spent 2018 as Atlanta’s primary third baseman and enjoyed a breakout season, batting .272 with 19 HR in 464 AB. However, the arrival of Josh Donaldson (3B, ATL) via free agency has clouded the 25-year-old’s outlook heading into 2019.

General manager Alex Anthopoulos has stated that he envisions Camargo taking on a super-utility role, potentially still starting four or five times per week despite not having a locked in position. Interestingly, Anthopoulos also said that Camargo, despite having logged just one inning of work as an outfielder at the professional level, will see time in the outfield this spring....
