The Mets are quickly falling apart, and fantasy owners could find some gems in the fallout. With Yoenis Céspedes (OF, NYM) out for the season, Jay Bruce (OF, NYM) making little progress on his return from injury and Dominic Smith (1B, NYM) having fallen out of favor, the first base position is wide open. The smart money is now on Peter Alonso (1B, NYM) debuting sooner rather than later. Alonso has held up his end of the bargain for a potential promotion by slashing .276/.398/.534 in the minors this year, and his presence in the lineup could help the organization to offer spark some enthusiasm in a disgruntled fan base.
