Dillon Gee (RHP, NYM) is slated to make his final minor league rehab appearance on May 28. If all goes well, he will be activated in time for his next start. As of now, it appears that team will go with a six man starting rotation with Gee serving as the sixth starter.

However, it’s fair to wonder if the team might instead choose to oust Jon Niese (LHP, NYM) from the rotation. Niese has had three consecutive poor outings, allowing a total of 16 ER along with 24 H, 6 BB and 9 K in 16 IP over that span. There are no reports of injury, but given Niese’s track record, it wouldn’t be a shock to learn that he has been pitching through an ailment of some sort.
