PT TOMORROW: NL Central—Harrison, Mercer to begin rehab assignments

Josh Harrison (3B, PIT), out since early July with a sprained thumb ligament, and Jordy Mercer (SS, PIT), who was lost a couple weeks later with a sprained MCL, are each expected to begin a rehab assignment within the next week. Manager Clint Hurdle indicated the team will bring them along slowly, but the belief is they'll both return by the end of the month. 

Harrison will likely return to a full-time role, though, as usual, it will be spread across multiple positions. It remains to be seen how his playing time will be divided, but Aramis Ramirez (3B, PIT), who has collected just six hits in 38 at-bats since he was acquired from Milwaukee, could see his playing time significantly reduced if he doesn't get on...
