The blurb for Rowdy Tellez (1B, MIL) in the Baseball Forecaster concluded, “Small investment could pay nicely if those small samples (skills) show over 500 PA.” Those skills referred to Tellez’s HctX, FB%, and exit velocity. Through 101 plate appearances, all signs are positive, as he’s maintained a 126 HctX, 54 FB%, and is currently in the 85th percentile in average exit velocity. 

Aside from the obvious benefits of $26 in 5x5 production and an 88 BPV, Tellez also appears to be parlaying his hot start into an increase in playing time. After starting only one of the team’s first six games against left-handed pitchers to begin the season, Tellez has since been in the lineup for three of the last four matchups. The team...
