The announcement wasn’t exactly groundbreaking, but manager David Bell has already confirmed that the DH will primarily serve to decrease the log jam in the Reds’ outfield. Bell also gave some hints as to how players could align defensively, which helps project playing time in turn. Nick Senzel (OF, CIN) entered camp 2.0 fully healthy, and will serve as the team’s primary center fielder. Based on Bell’s comments, it seems as if the team is emphasizing Senzel getting fully comfortable with the position and be projected for regular playing time confidently.

That leaves Shogo Akiyama (OF, CIN) and Nicholas Castellanos (OF, CIN) to split duties in right field, with the other a prime candidate to either play in left field or...
