PT TOMORROW: NL Central —MIL’s 2B options in the second half

As the season approaches its midway point, the Brewers continued lack of production from the second base position is an obvious area for potential improvement for the club in the second half. Jonathan Villar (2B, MIL) is still receiving the bulk of the at-bats there, but has shown no signs of improving his career-worst plate skills (67% ct%, 0.19 Eye, -21 BPV). It’s fair to expect some H% regression from his current 38% mark through 203 AB, and it’s not clear if the club would tolerate a BA close to his .240 xBA if they remain in a chase for a division title. They didn’t last season, trading for Neil Walker in mid-August in a move that limited Villar to just 25 September ABs.
