With definition coming to the fifth starter and backup catcher roles this week following the demotion of Carson Kelly (C, STL) and Jack Flaherty (RHP, STL) to AAA-Memphis, the Cardinals have two key questions lingering over the roster before they open the season on March 29 in New York against the Mets. First, who will win the final sports on the Cardinals bench? We reviewed this question last week in this space. Since then, both Breyvic Valera (2B/OF, STL) and Harrison Bader (OF, STL) have been sent to minor league camp, so the reserve outfielder race appears to have been won by Yairo Muñoz (3B/SS/OF).
