One shoe that many observers expect to drop before the trade deadline is the Rangers acquiring a starting pitcher. They have been linked with most of the pitchers believed to be available; now, it’s just a matter of finding the best match.

If the team decides to make a big splash, the presumption is that it will have to trade either an established major leaguer, like Nomar Mazara (OF, TEX) or Jurickson Profar (2B, TEX), or at least a heralded young player like Joey Gallo (3B, TEX).
