PT TOMORROW: AL West—Westbound and down

Seattle Mariners

The strained finger tendon that will reportedly shelve Hisashi Iwakuma (RHP, SEA) for 2-3 starts is obviously not as dire as anything to do with an elbow or shoulder. But it's obviously not good news this early in the spring, and SEA will likely err on the side of caution in bringing him back. Iwakuma's early absence together with some shoulder soreness reported by Taijuan Walker (RHP, SEA) is further scrambling the immediate SEA rotation outlook, which already had three spots up for grabs. Recent media reports have the Mariners mulling over unsigned starting pitching pitching options, because apart from Scott Baker (RHP, SEA), SEA's other candidates have yet to complete a full season in an MLB rotation.
