As the month began and with infield utility Tommy La Stella moving on to OAK, we noted in this space that left-handed-hitting Jared Walsh (1B, LAA) would be getting a 1B playing time bump—the result of 40-year-old Albert Pujols' (1B/DH, LAA) ongoing offensive deterioration and a club with nothing to lose. Flash forward two weeks, and Walsh leads all MLB hitters in September with a 1.422 OPS (5 HR, 11 XBH ) through 41 AB entering Wednesday. He's now missing very few starts and giving LAA a lot to think about for 2021.

A career .301 minor league hitter, the late-blooming Walsh found another gear in 2018-19, slugging 65 HR over 858 AB from A+ through Triple-A while maintaining reasonable plate skills (12% bb%, 69% ct%)...
