While most observers view prospect Jonathan Singleton (1B, HOU) as the primary 1B by the second half of the season, those AB look more uncertain this spring. His dip in the preseason prospect rankings points to some skepticism about Singleton after a lost 2013 that included a 50-game marijuana suspension, disappointing numbers and criticism of his conditioning. Entering 2013 with a career .290+ BA and coming off 21 HR at Double-A, Singleton struggled at Triple-A, hitting .220 with a 64% ct% and just 6 HR over 245 AB, despite 46 BB.
