The bloom is off the rose for Jon Lucroy (C, TEX) in TEX, which paid a steep price in prospects to acquire the 2016 All-Star catcher. Even though Lucroy's career year (.292 BA, 24 HR in 490 AB) helped the Rangers to the post-season, that was then. This year's free-agent-to-be has disappointed with a .259 BA and 4 HR through 232 AB that has reportedly ended any chance of Lucroy signing an extension or even receiving a qualifying offer from his current team. And even though the Rangers still have a slim chance in a crowded AL wild card field, they also have immediate needs beyond the catcher spot.
