PT TOMORROW: AL West—Future fallout

Newly-promoted Joe Musgrove (RHP, HOU) will begin in his MLB career in the bullpen while taking over the swing-man duties of departed Scott Feldman at least temporarily. But Musgrove's 2011 first-round pick pedigree and 2016 performance—2.74 ERA, 87/10 K/BB with a huge ground-ball tilt over 85 IP between Double-A and Triple-A—indicate that his role will expand. GM Jeff Luhnow said as much Monday, declaring that "Musgrove long term is a starter for us. I expect him to be in our rotation next year. What it means for this year remains to be seen."    

Obviously Musgrove could be returned to AAA-Fresno quickly if the objective is to keep him stretched out. But his immediate performance will factor into his 2016...
