Perhaps overlooked in Willie Calhoun's (OF/DH, TEX) surprising Triple-A demotion—check out his 15% bb%, 86% ct%, 122 HctX, 14% h% through 53 PA—are the defensive and positional issues now with respect to the club's immediate and future playing time. While horribly unlucky at the plate, Calhoun has always been a sub-par LF, illustrated by the fact that 12 of his 18 appearances had come out of the DH spot in the lineup. After Calhoun, the second most DH appearances in the Rangers lineup to date have gone to primary bat-first catcher Mitch Garver (C/DH, TEX), who was there on Tuesday May 3 while hitting his third HR of the season.
