The Red Sox may have ushered in the team’s future at third base with the recent promotion of Yoán Moncada (3B, BOS), who is slated to play against most right-handed pitchers in September, provided he can hold his own both at the plate and in the field. So far, so good on that front: The switch-hitting Moncada collected two hits—one from from each side of the plate—and scored two runs in his first start September 3.

The Red Sox certainly hope Moncada is able to handle third base, as his natural position, second base, is locked down by Dustin Pedroia (2B, BOS), who has allayed fears that his skills might be in decline by once again making hard contact at a better-than-league-average rate and boosting his line drive rate as...
