PT TOMORROW: AL East — Could Severino salvage something in September?

New York Yankees

Looking for a pitching Hail Mary for September, or perhaps an underachiever to stash in a keeper league?

As lottery tickets go, you could do far worse than Luis Severino (RHP, NYY), who, as analyst Matt Dodge noted in Playing Time Today, was demoted after his August 14 start, in which he allowed only three fly balls. Unfortunately, two of those fly balls cleared the fence, as Severino yielded 7 ER and eight hits over 3 2/3 IP, despite striking out seven and walking only one.

In his return to AAA-Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Severino continued to rack up the strikeouts, with 10 over 5 2/3 IP, though not unlike his last start in the majors, Severino also gave up a good number of hits (10).
