The White Sox outfield has some immediate openings. Melky Cabrera (OF, KC) was shipped to the Royals and Avisaíl García (OF, CHW) and Willy Garcia (OF, CHW) are on the DL. One more slot could open up soon as Brandon Kruse identified a red flag in Adam Engel's (OF, CHW) offensive game in the July 30 First Impressions column.

It's been a bit crowded in the infield, so Alen Hanson (2B/OF, CHW; pictured above) began getting steady work in the OF. It hasn't hurt his bat, as he's 18-for-63 (32% h%) with 1 HR, 3 SB, 11 K and 6 BB since becoming an outfield regular June 16. He made only 38 appearances at OF in his seven year minor league career, and his defense is a work in progress with three errors in 21 games (11 starts)....
