In a bizarre turn of events at the close of the Winter Meetings, CHW emerged as a favorite to land three-time All Star Manny Machado (3B/SS, BAL). At the beginning of the week, GM Rick Hahn was preaching patience and staying the course of a rebuild that began at the start of last season. Rumors swirled about trading club veterans José Abreu (1B, CHW) and Avisaíl García (RF, CHW) in order to continue stockpiling young talent. By Wednesday evening, however, details began to emerge that the CHW were the most aggressive suitors for the BAL superstar, who has asked to move back to his original defensive position at shortstop.
