Cameron Maybin's (OF, LAA) departure left a big hole in the batting order. The second slot is important for MLB teams in setting the table for the middle of the lineup. For fanalytic owners, it's an opportunity to pick up a few runs, SB and RBI. The Tigers are fairly certain two players won't be moved into that position: Justin Upton (OF, DET) and Miguel Cabrera (1B, DET). Upton began the 2016 season at the two-hole but got the hook in late April after faltering to a .208 BA, and Manager Brad Ausmus made it clear that Miggy, who led the 2016 team with a .393 OBA, will be back in the middle of the order.

Steve Garnder of USA Today Sports opined that Nick Castellanos (3B, DET; pictured above) might be a good candidate....
