PT TOMORROW: AL Central—One of these teams is not like the others

The placement of Matt Boyd (LHP, DET) on the IL for left arm discomfort “above the elbow” (according to Tigers manager AJ Hinch), is bringing not one, but two starting pitchers to the Motor City roster. First is Matt Manning (RHP, DET), the team’s #4 prospect in our 2021 Tigers Organization Report, who is already traveling with the team and is lined up to start in Anaheim against the Angels on Thursday night June 17. 

Manning (pictured above) was off to a rough beginning at AAA-Toledo, giving up 40 hits (including 11 home runs) in 32.1 innings over seven starts, but his most recent start (8 K/ 2 BB in six IP, with zero HR) convinced Hinch that now was the time for his MLB debut.
