Andrew Romine (1B/3B/OF, DET; pictured above) saw a 19-point decline to a middling .236 BA in 174 AB in 2016, but he made gains in his GB% (52% vs. 58% in 2015) and earned a career best .258 xBA. It may be noise or news, but Romine told Chris McCosky of the Detroit News in a March 14 article that despite being placed in defense-first / pinch-run roles, he seeks to improve his hitting. In the offseason, he looked at video and saw a need to start swinging through the ball and finishing toward the pitcher. The change is more challenging as he wants to be a switch-hitter.
