Joba Chamberlain (RHP, DET) picked up his second save of the season last week after Joe Nathan (RHP, DET) had pitched in three consecutive games. Manager Brad Ausmus also stated, for the first time, that Chamberlain was his 8th inning guy and that he would even stay in against left-handed hitters.

Chamberlain has pitched extremely well this year. He has a 2.70 ERA, fully supported by a 2.59 xERA, and 11.2 Dom/4.1 Cmd. His 155 BPV is closer-worthy. Nathan has yet to show the consistency the Tigers were hoping for when they signed him as a free agent. He has blown four saves and has put up career lows in Dom (8.7) and Cmd (2.2).
