The White Sox will have a new closer after trading Addison Reed (RHP, ARI) during the off-season. Manager Robin Ventura has said that he might not anoint the new closer until Opening Day. The four top candidates to succeed Reed are Nate Jones (RHP, CHW), Matt Lindstrom (RHP, CHW), Ronald Belisario (RHP, CHW), and Daniel Webb (RHP, CHW). Most observers give Jones the inside track.

Jones had a stellar year in 2013 posting a 133 BPV supported by a 10.3 Dom and 3.4 Cmd. His ERA was only 4.15, but his xERA was 2.87. Jones was the primary setup man for Reed the last half of the season. Jones also has some experience closing in the minors at Double-A Birmingham in 2011 where he had 12 SV.
