Only one starter finished with an ERA under 5.00 during his stay with the Twins in 2016, and it appears the rotation slots not owned by Ervin Santana (RHP, MIN) may all be up for grabs.

José Berríos (RHP, MIN; pictured above) is still considered a candidate, notwithstanding his 2016 8.02 ERA and 5.4 Ctl in 58.1 IP at MIN. However, he's probably going to get some time at Triple-A Rochester. Berrios will need to shore up his mechanics, and he'll lose face time with the coaches as he represents Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic. In a February 18 Minneapolis Star Tribune article, beat writer La Velle E. Neal III noted two distinct issues the Twins found with Berrios' approach. He had a tendency to lose his release...
