PT TOMORROW: AL Central - Jose Miranda's improvements driving Twins pennant chase

When the Twins called up Jose Miranda (3B, MIN) at the beginning of May, his positional versatility around the infield and his potent bat (30 HR across two levels in 2021) were drivers of the promotion. Miranda struggled out of the gate, however, as on May 18 his AVG had dropped to .094.

Fast forward to today, and Miranda’s AVG is up to .286. Since May 19, Miranda is slashing .330/.327/.742 with 11 HR and 13 doubles. When you break it down by month, it looks like this:

June–.306/.342/.514

July–.353/.405/.603

August–.309/.377/.400

Miranda’s LD%, BB% and H% has ticked up each month, but he’s also sported a .444 BABIP during the second half, so that can’t reasonably be expected to stick. He’s upped his...
