If you haven’t yet noticed Landen Roupp’s start to the season, we encourage you to take a closer look. As of completing his April 16th start against the Reds (in homer-friendly Great American Ball Park), his season line has him at 22.2 IP, 24 K, 7 BB, a 50.9% GB%, and a 2.38 ERA (supported by a 2.23 FIP and an xERA under 3). His SwK% supports his surface stat line, his S% is well-below average (suggesting he’s been unlucky?), and he’s suppressing hard contact. Maybe this is simply a hot streak, but the underlying stats suggest the streak might be supported by actual skills. He’s widely available on waiver wires and is worthy of speculation at worst.
