NL West: Early look at off-season roster holes

The Diamondbacks will have at least one, and possibly two, big holes to fill in their infield heading into the 2025 season. They will likely be active in the free agent market, but also have some internal options.

First basemen Christian Walker and Josh Bell both will be free agents. With 1B/OF Pavin Smith the only other 1B currently on the 40-man roster and no real 1B prospects in their minor league system, the Diamondbacks will likely be active in the free agent market looking for their next 1B. Walker or Bell could each be options to bring back in free agency.
