NL East: Early March deep sleepers

The most exciting news out of Braves came this week didn't come from a hot new prospect (although Hurston Waldrep day is coming soon here at NL East Playing Time Tomorrow). No, the guy that had everyone talking was non-roster invitee Ken Giles.

Giles had Tommy John surgery that cost him most of the 2020 and 2021 season. He last pitched in MLB in 2022 throwing 4.1 innings for the Seattle Mariners in 2022. The formerly dominant closer had lost quite a bit of velocity and left a start in early July with a shoulder injury.

He tried to make a comeback with the Dodgers last year on a minor-league deal. He threw 20 innings between complex ball and Triple-A. In 18 innings in Triple-A he struck out an impressive 28 batters, he walked...
