The most pitched battle for playing time in Mets camp has been at second base, where the competition has been hotter than the underside of a laptop after it’s been propped up on a pillow for hours while you lounge in bed, cramming for an upcoming draft.
Jeff McNeil came in with perhaps the best odds of drawing the lion’s share of PT at the position. The 2022 NL batting champ has fallen on hard times over the past couple seasons, slumping to a .238/.308/.384 slash line with 57 R, 12 HR, 44 RBI and 5 SB in 472 PA.
