DIVISIONAL OUTLOOK: NL West—McCarthy, Cahill progressing

While many teams are looking for starting pitching at the trade deadline, the Diamondbacks will have an excess of quality starters once everyone is healthy. Brandon McCarthy (RHP, ARI) has begun his rehab assignment, and assuming no setbacks, it won't be long until he rejoins the rotation. He got off to a very slow start to the season, but showed signs of turning things around before shoulder inflammation, followed by a seizure, got the best of him. McCarthy won't be a strong source of strikeouts, but rarely issues a walk, and has improved his ground ball rate in recent years.
