DIVISIONAL OUTLOOK: NL East—Pitching help on the way for Marlins

Nathan Eovaldi (RHP, MIA), who has been on the disabled list since the end of March due to right shoulder inflammation, is targeting a June 14 return. It will be interesting to see who is bumped from the starting rotation to make room. The candidates:

  • Tom Koehler (RHP, MIA) has been solid in five starts since joining the starting rotation (3.90 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 25 IP). In the past control issues have plagued him at times, but he has avoided them so far (2.1 Ctl). If he can continue to rein in the free passes, he will probably stick around for a while.
  • Jacob Turner (RHP, MIA) was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans to replace Alex Sanabia (RHP, MIA) as the team’s fifth starter. Turner, 22, was expected to open the...
