DIVISIONAL OUTLOOK: AL EAST—How much rope for Rasmus?

There is no evidence that the Jays’ center-field job is “in play,” but perhaps it should be. Colby Rasmus (OF, TOR) has had a miserable spring thus far (3 H, 8 Ks in 23 ABs) and, while it is a small spring sample, it is certainly not the start he or the team were looking for after two seasons of hitting .225 or lower with sub-par contact.

Meanwhile, Anthony Gose (OF, TOR) is off to a fast start, literally, with 5 SB to go along with 12 hits in 37 AB. Gose, too, has continued to struggle this spring with contact (12 Ks), so a little more seasoning may well be in order. On the plus side, Gose has drawn 7 BB in 44 plate appearances, and such patience is a boon to his base-stealing ability.
