DIVISIONAL OUTLOOK: AL Central—White Sox wounded returning

Several of Chicago’s injured players could return shortly after the All-Star break. Jake Peavy (RHP, CHW) had no problems during his rehab start last Sunday and should rejoin the rotation this weekend. Peavy has posted his typical strong BPIs, 8.9 Dom/4.4 Cmd, and his xERA of 3.63 shows that he has pitched better than his 4.30 ERA suggests. When Peavy returns, Dylan Axelrod (RHP, CHW) is the most likely to lose his rotation slot. Axelrod’s 5.1 Dom and 1.7 Cmd have contributed to his 5.33 ERA/1.56 WHIP in 18 starts. In his last five starts he has allowed 23 ER in 24 IP.

Paul Konerko (1B/DH, CHW) should return next week after a short rehab. At 37 years of age, Konerko is having his having his least productive season...
