DIVISIONAL OUTLOOK: AL Central—Iglesias to start at SS for DET

José Iglesias (SS/3B, DET) will start at short for Detroit after Jhonny Peralta (SS, DET) was suspended in the Biogenesis case. The Tigers acquired Iglesias as part of a three-way trade with the Red Sox and the White Sox before the trade deadline. Avisaíl García (OF, CHW) went to the White Sox and Brayan Villareal (RHP, BOS) joined the Red Sox as part of the deal. Garcia was considered expendable with the continued growth of Nick Castellanos (OF, DET) who becomes Detroit’s top OF prospect. Villareal had fallen out of favor and with the earlier acquisition of Jose Veras (RHP, DET) had only a marginal role in the bullpen.
