AL West: A regroup at 1B in Oakland?

Athletics

The hype train was in full force a couple of weeks ago for Nick Kurtz and rightfully so, as he was destroying Triple-A pitching. The early time at the big league level has not gone as smoothly for Kurtz. He’s hitting .219 over 22 games with one home run and six RBI. Kurtz has an ISO below .100 with a 37% strikeout rate. He is barreling the ball nearly 10% of the time with a 45% hard-hit rate, which is promising, but the swing-and-miss problems have been killing his overall production.

If Kurtz can’t start getting things going at the plate, a trip to the minors may be necessary to get him straightened out. If Kurtz heads to AAA, we’d likely see Tyler Soderstrom head back to first base, and then some decisions must be made....

Almost!
