Desperate times call for desperate measures. The Padres’ offensive woes have led team brass to DFA Nick Castellanos (who was good for a homer here and there, but was otherwise mostly unusable in fantasy) and call up AAA reinforcements in Jase Bowen, Rodolfo Durán (originally called up in early May for backup duties due to C Luis Campusano’s broken toe, now the everyday lineup replacement for C Freddy Fermin who is on the concussion IL), and Samad Taylor. The problem with each player is they all seem to be truly AAA-level players. 

Bowen (OF eligible) found 2026 success with AAA El Paso (.292 BA, 13 HR, 48 R, 36 RBI, 7 SB in 222 PA), but his 27% K%, which is an improvement from previous years’ numbers, has to give...
