AL CENTRAL PT TOMORROW: Jonathan Schoop turning around his season

The shine is coming off of shortstop Willi Castro (SS, DET), as water is beginning to find its level with him. As of May 24, Castro had dropped from 3rd to 6th in the order, while Jonathan Schoop (2B, DET) was promoted up the lineup to 2nd. Schoop’s HctX has soared since May 8, averaging 139 per those two weeks, while Castro’s has cratered, averaging 62 over the same period. Schoop’s raw numbers haven’t followed yet because his overall GB% is at a career-high, the LD% is at a career low, and his h% sits at 18%. But everything short-term is on the rise for Schoop to approach his typical output. A move up the lineup affirms Mgr A.J. Hinch’s confidence in Schoop, and the pair of homers Schoop hit on May 22 and 23 do the same...
