STARTERS: September targets, 2020

When looking for starting pitchers to target in September, speculating on prospects is a high-risk venture. A more effective approach is to identify SP that own skills that are better than their surface stats.

Here are a dozen starting pitchers carrying a 4.00+ ERA as a SP that are worthy turnaround targets for September.
 

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Matt Boyd (LHP, DET) has torpedoed the stats of owners that have kept him on their active rosters this season (7.63 ERA, 1.60 WHIP in 43 IP). Nonetheless, Boyd's skills suggest he's worthy of improved stats: 10.1 Dom, 3.1 Ctl, 36% GB%, 112 BPV. His 13.1% SwK% validates his strikeout level too. He has been bitten by unfavorable hit and strand rates (37% H%, 58% S%) as well as gopheritis (2.7 HR/9)...
