Our research a decade ago showed that stats and skills such as ERA, WHIP, win percentage, BPV, Dom (K/9), and Ctl (BB/9) all have significant home/road performance variances.
When deciding which SP to activate on a daily basis, a general rule is to target SP pitching at home, as home pitchers post much better stats and skills than their road counterparts.
Here are the SP with the widest home/road skill splits so far in 2024 (min 20 IP home/road):
Name | Lg | Tm | BPV Home | BPV Road | Δ |
Trevor Williams | NL | WAS | 198 | 35 | +163 |
Cristopher Sánchez | NL | PHI | 168 | 6 | +162 |
Ryan Weathers | NL | MIA | 171 | 63 | +108 |
Dane Dunning | AL | TEX | 133 | 30 | +103 |
Freddy Peralta | NL | MIL | 201 | 107 | +94 |
