We say it all the time, but often, our day-to-day roster management focuses on playing time. We grab players who are stepping into bigger roles and cut those who have lost their jobs. We chase short-term performance. How often do we grab a player just because his skills are too big to be ignored, even though he doesn't have a clear path to expanded playing time?
