F/F SPOTLIGHT: Luis Castillo

Luis Castillo (RHP, CIN) was supposed to be an ace this year. Yours truly pegged him as a speculative end-of-season first rounder, and I backed that up by taking him in the 2nd round (22nd overall) in my NFBC Main Event.

But things have turned south quickly for Castillo, whose 6.29 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in five April starts was his worst month since June 2018. To further twist that knife, Castillo was part of a massive second-round SP run from picks 15 to 30 this year. Most of his counterparts—and your alternatives on draft day—are thriving:

Pitcher ADP ERA WHIP W SO
================  ===  ====  ====  =  ==
Yu Darvish        15   2.13  0.89  3  49
Trevor Bauer      15   2.48  0.68  3  51
Aaron Nola        20   3.11  0.96  2 ...

Almost!
