BATTERS: Very early batted ball and plate control gainers, 2023

Batters whose batted ball or plate control metrics have significantly surged so far in 2023 can help you identify hitters who could be about to go on a surge, as well as validate those who already are off to hot starts.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Akil Baddoo (LF, DET) was a popular FAAB target in deep leagues when he was recalled from the minors. So far, his results have been very underwhelming (.227 BA, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 2 SB in 53 PA). There are reasons to be optimistic, though. He has reduced his chase rate by 10 points (31% to 21%). He's making in-zone contact at a much higher rate (91%) than last season...
