Second half deep league targets, 2023

As we did with starting pitchers last week, let's help you target where to spend your speculative dollars on hitters if you play in a very competitive or deep league.

Here are a bunch of bats in each league that could be worth pursuing if you need to gamble on hitting help for the second half.
 

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Akil Baddoo (LF, DET) was on his way to turning his season around just before he got injured earlier in the year. He had an .878 OPS and 79 BPV in 79 PA during May, when his plate skills went from decent to excellent (14% bb%, 84% ct%). In aggregate, his average exit velocity has increased by 3 mph from 2022, and his hard-hit rate has jumped by 10 points. At age 24, Baddoo is an intriguing post-hype play.
