BATTERS: Isolating OBP Targets

Last week we used ISO to look at look at potential targets for those participating in leagues that use slugging percentage. Today we will use Isolated Patience (IsoP) to help identify some intriguing options for those in on-base percentage leagues. As fans have become increasingly savvy with regard to baseball statistics, more and more fantasy leagues have followed the lead of professional franchises in using OBP instead of batting average as a better measure of ability and value.

The formula for IsoP is: OBP – BA. From this, we can easily see which players have shown strong plate discipline despite a poor batting as well as batters who provide excellent value to their respective teams by reaching base at a high rate.
