BATTERS: Big left-right splits

As more fantasy players try daily and monthly games, an important factor has become the need to identify potentially productive batters who will not be rostered by most of one’s opponents for that day or stats cycle.

It’s all well and good to have Mike Trout on your roster for a big game or cycle, but you don’t gain if all the other teams also have Trout on theirs.

Many owners in short-cycle leagues rely heavily on batter handedness to make roster selections or start/sit decisions: Roster or start a RHH against a LHP and vice-versa. But this approach might be missing an important factor—and creating opportunity for a canny owner to roster or start batters who defy expectations because of reverse splits.
