Fastball issues for George Kirby and Jesús Luzardo

George Kirby's decline in K-BB%

On Ryan Bloomfield's recent Bloomboard, George Kirby was one of the top K-BB% fallers from March/April to May. However, the main change came from the strikeout rate dipping by nearly seven percentage points and a walk rate under two percent. Kirby's elite control hasn't changed, with a 28.4% Ball% in March and April compared to 31.4% in May.

Interestingly, the pitch mix didn't change much either, with fastballs used 59-61% of the time, with the slider (20-21%) and splitter thrown 10-13%. Over the past month, Kirby mixed in more sliders, up over eight percentage points while lowering the four-seamer and sinker by 3-4 points.
